Name: Deborah Crofts

Biography: I graduated from a BA in Fine Art at the University of East London (UEL) in 1996 and relocated to Folkestone after a 10 year period of urban living. I have a studio with the Creative Foundation and have been regularly exhibiting in Kent since moving to the coast.

My work deals with extremes and often incorporates the meeting of opposites. The inspiration for the paintings comes from a mixture of urban landscapes, chaotic weather conditions and technology. In my paintings I seek to create discourse and reflection on the uncertainty of the future in the face of progress. Major artistic influences include Franz Ackerman, Peter Doig and William Blake.
