Name: Will Hirstle

Biography: Native of the Folkestone area, took Fine Art degree in South Wales, graduating 1990. Tried to make a career as a writer and playing in bands, then got involved in conservation. Returned to Kent to study for countryside-related MSc at Wye, and now run my own business helping organisations to educate the public about wildlife.

I returned to painting and drawing in 2005, working mainly with acrylics. I now work in a range of media, including collage, lino' prints, pen and ink, and photography. Digital manipulation of my images is central to my work, and my latest venture is a series of digitally altered wildlife photographs. Most of what I do is vibrantly coloured and often incorporates symbolic, iconic and primitive use of images and colour.

Many of my 'day job' projects involve graphic design and working with artists, particularly in a community context. I am lucky to make a living by combining my twin passions of visual and written communication. Also still dabbling in music, and still trying to make a career as a writer!
